THE STORY
Growing up in Coast City, Carlie was always subjected to the ridiculously high expectations of those around her. Her parents, her peers, even her friends. Born into a family of accomplished doctors, politicians and public figures, most assumed that she would also be extraordinary. But Carlie never could quite live up to those high expectations, thus labelled the disappointment of the Everet family.Dubbed "not good enough to be a real Doctor", Carlie settled for becoming a Paramedic. She went out of state for college, and during this time Cyborg Superman decimated Coast City, wiping out the entire population. Including her family.Carlie felt awful. Not just because everyone she knew was gone, but because she felt free. Like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. Yet, whether it be not knowing what to do, or from a sense of guilt for feeling free, she continued down her path to becoming a Paramedic.Years later, now a fully accredited Paramedic, she returned to the newly re-constructed Coast City. It was her home, she had to come back. But she was thrilled to see that it wasn't just her that came home- That Coast City's very own hero, whom she idolized since she was a teenager, had returned too. The Green Lantern.However, fate has a funny way of repeating itself sometimes. One day, Cyborg Superman returned to destroy Coast City once more. This time bearing the Phantom Ring, once again clashing with the Green Lantern. The destruction was massive, Carlie being one of the emergency workers sent out to do what they can. At some point, Cyborg Superman was defeated, and the Phantom Ring was lost to the debris.It was not lost for long, however, as whilst attempting to rescue people trapped, Carlie came across the Phantom Ring, not yet knowing what it was. Pocketing it, believing it to be a personal item of one of the citizens she failed to rescue. But during the chaos, she had forgotten about it, and it remained on her person until she arrived home the next day. Exhausted, she simply left it in her drawers as she went to sleep after all the work she did.And in there it remained for a long time, until one day she came across it again. Forgetting where she even got it from, she put it on. Immediately experiencing the Raw Power of the Emotional Spectrum in a single moment. The Phantom Ring cycling through each emotion until it found the strongest within Carlie: the Green Light of Will.Now expecting herself to be a hero just like the Green Lantern she idolized, she quickly began fighting crime and all the things a hero would generally do. Unaware of the danger that lied upon her finger.It wasn't long before the Green Lantern Corps became aware of the reappearance of the Phantom Ring, and approached Carlie. Believing that they were there to help her learn how to control the instability of the Phantom Ring, she was thrilled. But she soon learned they weren't there to help her. They were there to take the ring from her. The one thing that made her special. That made her feel like she wasn't a failure... Once again, she was being told that she wasn't good enough.This infuriated her. Leading her to come to blows with the Green Lantern Corps, and other Lantern Corps that approached her for the ring. Now Carlie seeks to prove that she can control the Phantom Ring, that she can use it as a force for good. That she could be the greatest Lantern ever.Just like her hero.

Powers And Abilities
The Phantom Ring is a powerful and the predeceasing iteration of the Green Lantern Power Ring created by the Exiled Guardian Rami.It grants whomever wields it the ability to access the core Seven Lights of the Emotional Spectrum; Rage, Avarice, Fear, Will, Hope, Compassion and Love, and all the individual abilities that these lights grant.As well as all the other basic Lantern abilities such as Energy Construct Creation, and Flight.However, this Ring also has the dangerous flaw of lacking selective requirements of its successors. Meaning that anyone can put on and wield the Phantom Ring. However, as it also lacks the safety features its successors has, the Phantom Ring also requires one to master and control their emotions. As it draws directly from the Emotional Spectrum itself, rather than requiring a Power Battery to recharge, it can be unstable and has proven to be able to overwhelm it's wielder with ease. It is also unable to tap into the combined White Light, the Absence of Emotion that is the Black Light, as well as the hidden Lights of the Invisible Spectrum.However, when one masters the use of the Phantom Ring, they will be able to use the full power of the individual Lights of the Emotional Spectrum simultaneously.
